Local bike shop. Professionally refurbished bikes.

Revolve ReCYCLING is a bicycle shop dedicated to saving and fixing up bikes, e-bikes, and scooters. We believe every bike deserves a second life — and we work with local riders, bike shops, councils, and businesses to rescue great rides before they end up in landfill.

Our seasoned mechanics use professional-grade standards to strip back and rebuild every ride , making sure it’s reliable, safe, and built to last for years to come. Better for your commute, your pocket, and the planet.

How we got started

Revolve ReCYCLING was founded in September 2021 in Alexandria, Sydney. The idea was straightforward: too many good bikes were ending up in landfill, and too many people in the community didn’t have access to a reliable ride.

What started as a determination to keep great bikes on the road has grown into a local bike shop, professional refurbishment workshop, and a community programme that’s put thousands of bikes back into use across Sydney and beyond.

We’re still here. Still in Alexandria. Still fixing bikes that are worth saving.

Bikes, E-Bikes, Scooters — What’s a PTV?

PTV stands for Personal Transport Vehicle. It’s the umbrella term for the rides we work with — bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters. If it’s human-powered or electrically assisted and gets you from A to B without a car, it’s a PTV.

We collect all three. For bikes, we strip back and rebuild every ride that’s worth redeploying. E-bikes and scooters we collect and recycle responsibly — most aren’t in a condition to safely put back on the road, but they stay out of landfill either way.

How we rebuild

Each bike that comes through our Alexandria workshop gets assessed. Around a third are stripped back and fully rebuilt for sale. Another third are disassembled and the usable components go back into other builds. The rest are recycled for steel and rubber.

Nothing goes to landfill. Every part finds a use.

Every bike we sell is backed by our 6-month warranty and one free service. That’s how confident we are in the rebuild.

Not every bike is worth saving

We don’t work on mass-produced department store bikes. Low-quality frames cannot be rebuilt to a professional standard, and we’re not interested in putting our name on something that won’t last.

What you’ll find on our floor are bikes from brands built to last — frames that can be properly stripped back, rebuilt, and ridden hard for years to come. That’s the kind of bike our mechanics love getting their hands on.

The people behind the workshop

Guido Verbist — General Manager

Guido has spent his career at the intersection of sustainability, community, and practical action. Before joining Revolve ReCYCLING, he led operations at the Bower Reuse and Repair Centres, where he introduced Repair Cafés and the Right to Repair movement to Australia.

He brings the same rigour to a bike workshop as he does to large-scale operations: clear thinking, high standards, and a genuine belief that things worth saving are worth doing properly.

Pete Shmigel — Founder & General Hand

Pete founded Revolve ReCYCLING in 2021 with a straightforward conviction: too many good bikes were going to waste, and that didn’t have to be the case. He previously served as CEO of the Australian Council of Recyclers (ACOR) and Lifeline Australia.

At Revolve, Pete works across the shop, the workshop, and the community programmes that keep the whole operation moving. His focus is on getting things done.

Alexandria. Sydney. Home.

We’re based at 84 Burrows Rd, Alexandria — a working workshop in a working suburb. We know the roads, the riders, and the kind of bikes that hold up to Sydney’s hills and bike paths.

Over the years, we’ve worked with local riders, bike shops, councils, businesses, and community organisations to keep bikes in use and out of landfill across the city. We’re a local bike shop with seasoned hands and genuine roots in the community we serve.
